ADWAN ECOSOC STATUS
We are thrilled to announce that the Association for Dalit Women’s Advancement of Nepal (ADWAN) has been officially granted consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) — a significant and well-deserved recognition on the global stage!
ADWAN is the only organization from Nepal to receive this prestigious status in 2024, joining a distinguished group of just 6,786 NGOs worldwide. This milestone means ADWAN, a non-governmental, non-profit organization, can now formally contribute to the vital work of the United Nations.
With a grassroots network of 6,263 women in 253 groups, ADWAN is positively impacting the lives of over 153,000 people across Nepal. From confronting caste discrimination and gender-based violence to tackling illiteracy, these courageous women are transforming intergenerational injustice into dignity, empowerment, and self-reliance.
This achievement not only amplifies the voices of Dalit women at the global level but also inspires us all to keep fighting for a just and inclusive world.
Congratulations to the entire ADWAN team and community! Your unwavering dedication continues to change lives and shape a better future for all.
